Bowling Ball for the Wii

Riiflex Wiimote weights sure look life-threatening, but they're not nearly dangerous enough. To give your Wii Sports nights that little extra bit of risk and intrigue, what you need is a (nearly) full-sized bowling ball. Appearing on what is perhaps the least functional website ever, CTA Digital is showing off an "authentic" bowling accessory, splitting open like Pac-Man to gobble up a controller, then closing up again to form what should be the perfect weapon for knocking down both bedposts -- and giving anyone standing nearby a concussion. There's no mention of how much the thing weighs, but we do know that it has what looks to be an industrial-strength wrist strap on there, and that thoroughly broken website contains not one but two statements indicating the company will not be held liable for what you do with the thing. You know what that means: game on!

Nintendo Wii,Record Setter!

The Wii has already set more than its share of sales records, but it looks like Nintendo has now claimed another big one, with the latest NPD figures indicating that the Wii has become the fastest-selling console ever in the United States. That milestone was apparently marked when the Wii sailed past 20 million consoles sold after just 31 months on the market, although that number is of course just a small part of the more than 50 million consoles shipped worldwide which, incidentally, has already made the Wii the fastest-selling console in the world.

More PSP 2 Rumors

You can be sure this won't be the last PSP rumor to surface before E3, but the word going around now is that the so-called PSP Go! (or PSP2, or PSP Slide...) won't rely primarily on some internal memory for storage as previously speculated, but on something like Sony's new Memory Stick HG-Micro format, which is about 40MB/s faster than a standard Memory Stick Duo card. That word apparently comes from some 'sources close to PSP development' that have spoken to PC World's Game On blog, who seem to also be suggesting that the Memory Sticks would effectively replace UMDs as a game delivery format, and not simply be used for downloaded games and whatnot. All of which certainly seems reasonable enough, even if it's still far from being anywhere close to official.

Nintendo Launches Wii System Menu 4.0

Nintendo's finally patching WiiWare's biggest hangup: storage. Not only can you back up titles to SD, but games can now be played straight from the cards, so there should be very little hassle to data management going forward. The 'SD Card Menu' can be accessed straight from the main Wii System Menu 4.0, an update that's being pushed out as we speak, which also enables the Wii to work with memory cards larger than 2GB, all the way up to 32GB -- which should make room for a good many NES carts. Nintendo's also pushing out the new Virtual Console Arcade, which brings old school arcade titles to the Wii. Hit up the read link for Joystiq's walkthrough of the SD card functionality, or just fire up your Wii and find out for yourself -- the water's warm!

Significant Hottie:Kristin Kreuk

Catch her in Street Fighter:The Legend of Chun Li.

Whats Your Vue?

Movie Reviews: Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li

The Skinny: A young woman named Chun-Li (Kristin Kreuk) travels to Bangkok to seek revenge for the death of her father because…that's what a mysterious scroll told her to do. She totally sucks at fighting, but then this dude comes and goes, 'Hey, I'll teach you how to fight!' and then…does. Li uses her newfound fireball-making ability to exact revenge on a baddie named Bison. Yeah, it was awesome.

The Good: Black Eyed Peas' Taboo, playing Vega, gets his ass kicked. We were just happy to see that happen. There are also considerably less annoying Street Fighter characters than the original train wreck. We're not sure how good that is, but it's better than bad, right?

The Bad: Really, truly, everything. But what do you expect from the director of the equally-laughable video game adaptation Doom, and three movies starring DMX (Romeo Must Die, Exit Wounds, Cradle 2 the Grave)? Anchoring the marginal acting are horribly written and even more horribly delivered 'tough-guy' lines that'll make you cringe like someone cut one in the theater. And, then there are the chi fireballs, which make only three appearances and look like spinning globs of glowing tumbleweed. It's Street Fighter-at least attempt to get the fireballs correct.

Lilac Hannah Montana Entertainment Pack PSP

Tired of PSP colors yet? Sony doesn't think you are -- and it also thinks you're a lady, because it's squarely targeting the new Lilac PSP at girl gamers. Tween girls, to be specific: the Lilac will debut as part of a $199 Hannah Montana Entertainment Pack that features young Miley's PSP game, a UMD with a few HM episodes, a 2GB memory stick, and some fun stickers. What do the less overstimulated among us get? An Assassin's Creed Entertainment Pack that'll launch with Altair's PSP debut later this year and other content that will be announced later.
