Introducing The Harley- Davidson Sportster Iron 883

This new bike enters HD's Dark Custom series and is therefore completely blacked-out. Available colors are Black Denim and Brilliant Silver Denim, both of which feature a distinctive matte finish that's perfect for their design ethos.

This new steed is based on the entry-level Sportster platform and starts at $7,899, which is a full $2,000 cheaper than its larger sibling, the Nightster 1200. The two Sportsers share the same basic design, including a slammed suspension complete with front fork gaiters, solo saddle and foldaway side-mounted license plate holder. The main difference between the two machines lies in the displacement of the fuel-injected V-twin engine, with the new Iron making use of the smaller 883cc jugs, and in the use of 13-spoke wheels on the Iron 883 in lieu of laced rims. It's definitely an attractive machine and we think it should do pretty well with its relatively low base price and guaranteed trade-in value.

Oasis leads UK awards nominations

"Veteran Brit rockers Oasis are leading all other challengers with 7 nominations ahead of this year's NME Awards in the UK. However, a few of the nods could be seen as a bit frivolous including Best Band Blog and Best Dressed for band member Noel Gallagher. Next in line with 4 mentions are both American bands, this year's breakthrough heroes Kings of Leon and one of the hottest new alt-rock bands of 2008, Vampire Weekend. Other bands snagging top nominations include British legends Radiohead and 2 more American bands, The Killers and MGMT."

"Beyonce, emotional about singing for the pres."

"Beyoncé may have been able to fight back the tears onstage while singing 'At Last' for Michelle and Barack Obamas' first dance at the Neighborhood Ball. But afterwards, when she described how amazing it was to be a part of this historic occasion, she couldn't contain her emotions for very long."

Windows 7, On Its Way

"At Microsoft's recent Professional Developers Conference (PDC) in Los Angeles, the air crackled with anticipation. On the heels of Vista, arguably the biggest disaster in Microsoft's history, Windows 7 was about to be revealed. A blast of fanfare, and Chief Software Architect Ray Ozzie took the stage to pull the wraps off the new desktop operating system--which would deliver better performance, an improved user experience, and some nifty media-sharing features. The crowd salivated at the chance to play with Microsoft's latest and greatest"

Bulletproof "President Obama"

"yesterday. According to one of our favorite daily reads, Officer.com, the Prez was wearing 'bullet-resistant clothing,' which experts (and sci-fi fanatics) are taking to mean a bullet-proof suit. The folks over at Slate speculate that he might have been adorned in an outfit manufactured by MIguel Caballero, a Colombian company that specializes in bullet-resistant gear like leather jackets, windbreakers, and yes... ruffled tuxedo shirts. We'd like to imagine that stuffed into the pocket of that handsome outfit he was sporting was a Kevlar handkerchief -- but listen up Obama: Sasha and Malia are not going to be down with that bulletproof backpack."

G1, Set To Go Full Euro

"So far the G1 has only been available in the US and UK, but it looks like T-Mo's about to take Android international -- we're told the HTC-made handset will hit the Netherlands, Austria, and the Czech Republic on January 30, Germany on February 2, and Poland a bit later. No detailed pricing information, but it's confirmed that Germans will be able to score a G1 for just €1 ($1.33) with a two-year contract. Hopefully we'll see that pricing make its way Stateside soon -- although the G1 is currently doing quite well at $179, $1 sounds even better."

Circuit City Coming To An End

Circuit City, which sells mobile phones and other electronics, is going to permanently close its 567 stores and cease operations. The company was in bankruptcy and hoping to find another firm willing to buy it. No suitors emerged. It also couldn't make suitable deals with its creditors. The company is seeking permission to liquidate all its assets. It expects to start the sale tomorrow and will run until March 31, the end of the first quarter.

Stanton SCS-1 Digital DJ System

Stanton has just announced that its completely boss SCS-1 System is finally shipping to eager DJs. The system is comprised of the SCS.1d deck and the SCS.1m mixer, both of which give funkmasters that digital flair while preserving the familiar feel of older school gear. One of the unique technologies is the HSS1394 protocol, which is a proprietary high-speed communications standard developed specifically for the SC System 1 in order to transmit MIDI messages rapidly over FireWire. You'll also find a preset library for the System (Traktor Pro included), and Stanton has vowed to make updates available regularly and free of charge."

Racer X Design BMW 6-SERIES

When BMW rolled out the new 6 Series coupe in 2003, it reconnected with a nameplate that had laid dormant for some 14 years. The original 6-Series, produced between 1976 and 1989, earned itself a cult following and iconic status, epitomized by the 635CSi. Some apparently feel that the current 6 doesn't pay enough homage to the original. The people at Racer X Design count themselves in that camp, and are evidently hoping there are more like-minded enthusiasts... with cash.

Racer X Design has caught our attention before with some arresting concepts, including the KC-427 and the RZ Formula. The RZ-M6, however, takes the existing 6 Series and retros it up a bit, in turn paying a bit of homage to BMW's own M1 Hommage concept. The modified body panels would also widen the coupe by an extra 50 mm, giving it a more aggressive stance to go along with the tribute styling. Of course, Racer X Design needs to attract some potential customers to bring the RZ-M6 to life, but it's already a few steps closer to reality than the studio's previous projects."

"Ahh, Britney Being A Mom"

Intimate New Year's Eve snaps show happy Britney in mum mode: "Britney Spears has repeatedly said being mum to Jayden James and Sean Preston is the most important thing in her life. And the happiness the little boys bring was obvious in intimate family snaps recently posted on the singer's website.

Smartly dressed in suits accessorised with bow ties and waistcoats, two-year-old Jayden and his big brother Sean, three, posed with their famous mum in the photos taken over New Year.

The happy trio rang in 2009 with the rest of the Spears' clan by celebrating the wedding of the singer's elder brother Bryan in the family's home state of Louisiana.

Shortly after the photos were taken Britney and the boys, plus her parents Lynn and Jamie, headed to the New Orleans ceremony where Bryan, 31, tied the knot with 36-year-old Graciella Sanchez, manager of the singer's younger sister, Jamie Lynn.

'It was very beautiful,' a source told People magazine. 'It was only close family, very small and intimate.'"

Blaupunkt's Car Internet Streamer

"Blaupunkt's miRoamer-powered TravelPilot New Jersey 600i internet car stereo"The prototype head unit connects to a cellphone over Bluetooth to access the internet, and uses the miRoamer service to stream 'tens of thousands' of stations on the service -- which the company estimates will consume about 2GBs of data a month, so you'd better hope your data plan doesn't cap you off or charge you for overages. The radio is expected to arrive in the second half of the year for $399, which isn't bad, but doesn't do much good for the squares like us who never swap out their car stereos -- which is probably why miRoamer is targeting 2010 for placement in OEM head units."

It comes with a 3 megapixel camera with LED flash. Palm also introduced its next-generation mobile platform, called webOS. It includes gesture-based input for interacting with the device. New Polaroid Digital Is Instant!

Today at CES, the $199 PoGo Instant Digital Camera is making its grand entrance, utilizing the tried-and-true ZINK printing technology. Sadly (and we do mean sadly), there's not even a mention of how many megapixels this thing boasts, which is a pretty telling sign that you won't be getting SD850IS-type quality out of it. Nevertheless, it'll print out ink-free 2- x 3-inch images right from itself, so maybe the quality isn't that big of a deal after all. Or maybe we're just sympathetic."

DRM Is History With iTunes

"iTunes Dumps The DRM"

Changes pricing structure for new, old songs...
03:22PM Tuesday Jan 06 2009 by Karl Bode
Apple today announced several changes to the iTunes store, most notable of which is that the company is eliminating digital rights management (DRM) from their downloads. The change comes at a cost however, Apple bending to the recording industry's long-standing demand for variable pricing. Apple's now delivering single tracks for 69 cents, 99 cents and $1.29 -- with the price tag determined by the major labels and a song's popularity and/or age. Apple also announced that iPhone users can now preview and purchase the entire iTunes Store via the 3G network, something previously restricted to Wi-Fi."

DOD Gives Approval For Transformers 2"Revenge Of The Fallen"

Transformers 2 ;Due Out In Summer 09."The U.S. Department of Defense gave its official stamp of approval to the Michael Bay-directed film, not only allowing production amid the pristine dunes of the Army’s New Mexico missile range, but also letting filmmakers follow jets and fighter planes through the sky from nearby Holloman Air Force Base. More scenes were shot on the Navy’s aircraft carrier USS John C. Stennis, and Marines fill the ranks of the strike team battling the invading Transformers.

Among the equipment the movie is using in this desert sequence alone: two A-10 Thunderbolt II “Warthog” tank-killing jets; six F-16 Fighting Falcons; 10 armored Humvees; the Army’s Golden Knights parachute team; two Abrams tanks; two Bradley tanks; two missile-launcher vehicles; two armored personnel carriers; and a quarter-mile of the missile testing range, cleared of unexploded ordnance and built into an Egyptian town and temple. (Signs warn not to cross a perimeter just over the gypsum dunes, because live bombs could be hidden in the sand.)

The final battle the military is helping Bay create is supposed to be an enormous firefight in Egypt, but much of it is being shot in the White Sands dunes in a town built over the roughly quarter-mile cleared span."

New Vuzix HMD;Wearable Viewer

Looks like we'll all get our first good look at Vuzix's newest head-mounted display -- the Wrap 920AV -- at CES in a few days. They're apprarently very similar to the company's previous offering, though they boast a totally fresh appearance. Vuzix promises that the optics have been improved and will offer a better viewing experience, but we don't have any other specifics about the device yet. We'll definitely check them out in Vegas, but we have to say: the Geordi La Forge look was way better than the new wrap-shades, guys."

09 Nissan 370z With Nismo S-Tune Kit

Autoblog: "Nissan's latest Z-car has hit the ground running in the U.S. and Nissan may begin stirring the pot to ratchet up excitement another notch. Although we usually have to wait for the extra goodies launched in Japan to make the trek to the States, rumor has it that the factory NISMO S-Tune kit will migrate over the Pacific in short order. In addition to the coupe's already aggressive bodywork, a ground effects kit designed to improve aerodynamics will be part of the package, along with a new set of deep dish, five-spoke aluminum wheels and upgraded suspension and brake kits. A cat-back exhaust system rounds out the bits and pieces. If the rumors hold true, we can expect to see the NISMO S-Tune 370Z kits on dealer shelves sometime in June."

Significant Hottie;Anne Hathaway

"Anne as Agent 99"

As the realm of sexy female spies continues to grow at a tremendous rate in films, I saw it necessary to create a special award since us gents do love our ladies with gadgets, guns and sexy thighs to strap them against. 2008 was an especially good year for sexy spies and the one that tops them all for sure was Anne Hathaway. For her first big blockbuster summer movie, she couldn't have picked a better role as she kicked ass aplenty as Agent 99. Her 'Catherine Zeta-Jones' style laser-room techniques were the biggest highlights and even though the film is a spoof of intelligence bureaus around the world, she came off as a very sexy and determined agent. Way to go Anne!"
